Sitting wedged in between strangers and across from strangers all crammed together waiting to board this morning, the heavy thoughts came, as they often do when I travel alone. When I'm in this solitary-thinking-no-particular-context-space-between, traveling by myself, I feel extra open to all the media, all the day's/week's/year's stories, all the people in all their various secret and not-secret emotional places, all around me. Today, the impact made me want to shout out: PEOPLE, STOP HURTING OTHER PEOPLE. Thinking the better of it, I sat quiet and shed a few tears instead, wondering absently what the staring woman down the row thought of me and the misfortune I must be facing.
But now, sitting dry-eyed and thousands of feet up, facing no misfortune at all, but instead comfortably considering the facts of my extraordinarily beautiful world, I recommit myself to living the BIGGEST life possible. For me, this means: Pray more, play more, explore/read/sing/dance/laugh/cry more. Listen to more music. Forgive more. Share more. Live in service to more people in more places. And always, always, live in the place of extreme gratitude for whatever comes my way.
